Microsoft AJAX content delivery network (CDN)

Last Tuesday, Scott Guthrie announced in his blog the new Microsoft AJAX content delivery network (CDN), this is great news to all of us using AJAX in our commercial and non-commercial applications. What is it? First of all, a CDN is a Content Delivery Network which is composed of multiple servers strategically placed across the globe. In the case of the Microsoft AJAX CDN servers, the jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX libraries are cached across multiple web-sites around the world and they are available to you now. If your website loads these AJAX libraries from the Microsoft AJAX CDN servers, your AJAX enabled...

facebook.com - an unknown DNS name... really?!

While trying to create a new Facebook photo album I got the following error:   It is probably just a network hiccup or maybe the network guys at Facebook were having too much fun in a Friday ; ) hkbvr5u64m

Y Combinator – Applications open for 2010 funding!

A few months ago I wrote about Y Combinator, they specialize in funding early stage startups. Their focus is in funding software and web related companies or ideas ;). In this economy many people have chosen to create their own business, and I don't blame them, many said that recessions are the best time to start a new company, some people also say that most startups are too small to fail, according to Jason Cohen. ASP.Net Controls

I want to share the following with you; I try to attend the .Net user group meetings as much as I can. I find these free get-togethers really useful for developers of all levels… and I love the free pizza too! I live in Austin, TX so the one I attend to is the Austin .Net user's group (adnug.org). I guess I am a lucky guy, since 2008 I have won twice a free subscription/license to Infragistic's NetAdvantage suite valued at about $1,500.00. Needless to say, I have enjoyed these "free" controls and I am very happy with it. Now,...

Visual Studio 10 – Multi-monitor support

Looking at Visual Studio 10 improvements, I found one that I really like and I am sure a lot of you will find this very cool as well. Visual Studio 10 now supports multiple monitor setups, yes! Now you can actually move the designer, editor, tools, etc to any monitor in your system. Many of us are already familiar with multi-monitor systems, however, this is different. You can now have your code in one of the monitors and then the designer in a different monitor… the use of screen real-estate can be highly improved with this feature, and hopefully our...

Microsoft Response Point

As I was listening to some Scott Hanselman’s podcast with Richard Campbell, they mentioned Microsoft’s Response Point phone system. Yes, it seems that I have been under a rock since I really didn’t know anything about Response Point until last night. Response Point is a phone system which includes all the software and hardware you need in a box. This phone system was created by Microsoft to offer small businesses a solution of a phone system that is easy to use at prices very competitive compared to those of bigger phone solution businesses. Response Point is targeted to small businesses with...
