Yes, it is midnight or maybe even 2AM and you just realised you didn't finish your to-do list, you didn't accomplish much or maybe nothing, zero, nada, now what...
It happens to all of us, life is just a huge to-do list and the problem I believe, is that most of us try to accomplish too much, we loose focus.
It is easy to loose focus in today's world, with all those tweets and facebook updates around us, all those blogs we think we need to read, all the email we need to reply to, and all of the things we have...
Creating our applications for our users and not us, this is nothing new and it seems logical right? as a software developer we create applications for our users, to help them resolve some sort of issue or facilitate some manual process, etc. This is what software developers do. And in many cases we just open our SDK of preference and start creating this much needed applications using only our own instincts and preferences.
If it was just this easy, we'll all be making a fortune selling these much needed applications to a lot of businesses out there. The need for software...
A week ago I released a new version of my business website, then I asked for feedback about the overall design of this website using LinkedIn questions. I didn't realize I'll get so many opinions and valuable feedback! It was an eye opening, many people provided very valuable feedback, with details that you usually get only when paying a web designer or design firm.
I have been a member of LinkedIn for some time now; In the past, I've used it to share knowledge and experience by answering web development questions, and to look for business and job opportunities. It...
Today was the second annual Interactive Austin Conference and I was able to attend. Let me start by saying that it was a great event, lots of great people, the speakers knew their topics and the crowd was great as well. I attended three of the “Practical application and implementation” track and whurley’s keynote (my favorite speaker at this event).
I got to the event late in the morning, around 10:45 so I was not able to hear the other two keynote speakers: Dion Hinchcliffe and Sam Lawrence.
The speakers all coincided in one thing; social media is nothing new,...
updateTwitter, is a new Facebook application I created to learn more about Facebook’s API. This application was written in PHP and it uses the Twitter API. The application basically allows Facebook users to add “Tweets” to their Twitter account from Facebook.
The application is accessible from this URL:
http://apps.facebook.com/updatetwitter
The updateTwitter Facebook application only requires you to enter your Twitter username, password and the text you want to send to Twitter. The application will also display your last 20 “Tweets” or updates.
I will write more about Facebook’s API in a separate post.
I just started using Twitter, I am planning to use it to market the iPhone applications I am developing. Twitter can be a great marketing tool if used as such, it has the potential to reach a lot of people and it is very simple to use. Many people might argue that Twitter is not for businesses but I disagree, it is word of mouth at its best. Try it for yourself, create an account in case you haven't created one already and make sure you have the name of your company and website in your profile. It is a good idea to...
